Love Your Neighbor

As you all know, Christmas time is known as the Season of Giving. Here at Duncan Plumbing we strive to “LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR” by donating our time, resources and finances. There are so many wonderful organizations here in Ellis County that serve and support many great causes. Our goal is to give back to these organizations and help them meet the needs so that they can continue to bless others in our community.

With that being said, Duncan Plumbing sponsored a food drive for Waxahachie Care on Friday, December 3rd here in front of our building at 109 John Arden Drive. We served up free Hot Cocoa with all the toppings for everyone who stopped by. Prickly Boba was here with their truck serving up their delicious Boba. Santa Clause was our special visitor who came all the way from the North Pole for photos spreading Christmas joy & cheer. Wade Holman with Waxahachie Care was here receiving food donations.  Shanna Dunn with Waxahachie Chamber came out to support us by doing a live Facebook feed during the event.

If you were driving by our office Friday, I’m sure you noticed our sign holders Cody, Jessie and Ryder Duncan as they waved and encouraged people to stop by. They even got attention with their “Honk for Santa” signs to which many drivers responded. The Christmas Spirit was in the air.

WHAT IS WAXAHACHIE CARE

Waxahachie CARE was established 1992 by a group of churches. Their hope was for CARE to bring relief on churches providing material needs to people and allow them to focus more on the spiritual needs.  In return, the churches would support CARE.

CARE became a food pantry and later a source of Emergency relief and utility assistance. The organization has since added services such as purchasing appliances and medical prescriptions for people in desperate need. Rental and even legal assistance have also been provided. This year CARE was able to pay for a Central Air & Heat unit install for a couple who have been living with cancer for over 10 years, their largest accomplishment yet!

Waxahachie CARE depends totally on our community to support families with food. They cannot meet these needs without the help of our community. So many non-profits depend on funds from other sources such as a thrift store or fundraisers. CARE doesn’t have to depend on either because our churches and community provide financially for them. This year alone they have distributed around 600,000 pounds of food and given $137,154.00 of financial assistance.

With all the recent growth in Ellis County and a rise in needs, they are seeking to expand their services but can only achieve those goals with our community’s help.

CARE provides services for all of Ellis County. It is 501c3 nonprofit.
