Toilet paper continues to be in short supply across Waxahachie & North Central Texas.  Bidets offer an alternative to using toilet paper. Amazon has seen a surge in orders for seat-attachment bidets. Similarly, stand-alone bidet sales at the supply houses are on the rise as the toilet paper shortage continues in Waxahachie and across America.

Bidets have been around for more than 300 years. The first known bidet appeared in France in the 1700’s.  If you’ve done some travelling in Europe or Asia then you’ve probably used a bidet. In fact, people all over the world use bidets as a standard in their bathrooms. However, American’s haven’t really caught on to the bidet—until now.

The shortage of toilet paper across America has more and more people looking at how to install a bidet. One of the most attractive features, the bidet allows you to wash with no toilet paper. It’s actually a much cleaner option. You would’t use a paper napkin to clean up your hands if you got urine on them, you’d wash them. So why do we use paper in the loo? It’s just a habit. But bidets offer other benefits too. They are not expensive to install. So, bidets not only save you money on paper but some basic bidet seat attachments cost as little as $25.

Interestingly, the word ‘bidet’ means ‘pony’ in French since using a bidet is similar to riding a pony. In Japan, fancy toilets that do everything from heat the seat provide warm air dryers and dual spray options. These bidets will sing or provide white noise among some luxury features. The Japanese take bidets to the next level, so why don’t more Americans use bidets? Mostly because we didn’t grow up that way, says Business Insider.  Americans grew up using toilet paper and it’s just a familiar bathroom habit.

The shortage of toilet paper may push the bidet to homes across America.  Duncan Plumbing in Waxahachie is familiar with all types of bidets from toilet seat attachment types to a new bidet installation. Duncan Plumbing can install a stand alone bidet or help you install your new bidet seat attachment. You can pretty easily add a bidet seat to your existing toilet but the surge in bidet installations has caused the price on seat attachments to increase. You can pay just as much for the seat attachments as you would expect to pay for a stand-alone bidet. A stand-alone bidet starts around $250 and can be as high as $1000, similar to toilet prices. A standalone bidet uses your existing bathroom plumbing so you can live bidet la vie!
